Board of Directors

The University Place School District Board of Directors consists of 5 elected representatives serving 4-year terms.  Board members are elected to serve the entire community in “at-large” positions and all registered voters may participate in the election of each board member.

Board Responsibilities

The primary tasks of the Board are:

  1. Linking the school system with the community
  2. Setting policy that guides the district; and
  3. Assuring organizational performance by monitoring the execution of policy.

The Board of Directors is a team dedicated to excellence. Whenever possible they refer matters to the Superintendent, the principal, or the classroom teacher to ensure they are handled at the level most appropriate for resolution.

The Board meets the second and fourth Wednesdays of each month, except November, December, February, April, and July. Only one meeting is held in those months. Meetings start at 6:30 pm. The full Board Calendar is available on the District website, or by calling the district office for the location of a meeting - (253) 566-5600.

How to Contact Board Members

The University Place School District Board values input from the public on all issues related to public education. Citizens, parents and students are encouraged to contact board members. If you would like to speak with the full Board, you are welcome to attend any regular meeting and give public comment for up to 3 minutes per meeting. These comments are recorded as part of the meeting and are available to the public for one calendar year. Citizens are also encouraged to attend special “linkage” meetings where they can share thoughts and ideas on specific topics. Linkage meetings are noted on the annual Board Calendar.

If you would like to contact an individual board member, you may use email or telephone. Email addresses for Board Directors are noted below. You can leave a message for Board Directors by contacting the District office at 253-566-5600.
